"A plein air painting, I got out of the house late one afternoon and found this spot, where sunlight streamed through the trees and over the grass. Nearby was an old, abandoned home. I worked quickly as the evening drew closer to capture this beautiful, fleeting image."
About the Artist:
A native of Illinois, Tipton's work is a response to time spent walking through the woods and forest preserves of the Chicago suburbs. As a Native American, he creates paintings that are rooted in rich memories of his childhood visits to the Cherokee farmlands of his family in Oklahoma. His connection to art stretches far back and is a reflection on the land and his ongoing expression of it. Inspired by local beauty and sense of natural space, Tipton creates paintings that recall these cherished places, allowing for one to step back into them time and again. He also digitally reworks some of his paintings to create something new. The resulting work transcends its origin, evolving into mesmerizing digital landscapes that resonate with his love for often-visited places close to home.
