This is another view of Campobello Island. I was inspired by the long shadows created in the late afternoon light and by the fact that it looks untouched by humans. I used a glazing technique to get the depth of the shadows and how the weeds seem to emerge from the dark.
About the Artist
Jay Jensen enjoys capturing the unique magic of a dramatic sky or the late afternoon light. He currently lives in Canada and has been influenced by the work of Johannes Vermeer, Rembrandt van Rijn, Edward Hopper and Andrew Wyeth. Jay considers himself a figurative painter, but particularly loves painting ocean views. He does a lot of glazing which make his works even more luminous in person.

An uplifting, light-filled landscape that combines old world realism with a modern aesthetic. Cumulus clouds gather at the horizon and sweep upward across the sky, enlivening the landscape. About the Artist
Mandy Main is an art historian and landscape painter based in the Southern California desert.
