About the Item
John Young was born in Wangqing City, Jilin Province, China in 1970. As a Korean-Chinese artist, His Korean name is Jeon Young Wook and his official Chinese name is Quan Yong Xu.
His impressionist style of art remains to be one of the most consistent in this generation, manifested in his paintings of airy landscapes. Noted for their looser brushwork, heavy palette and emphasis on mood, he has his own unique colors that are shown in his paintings.
John Young was inspired by Impressionist painters Alfred Sisley and George Inness. He demonstrated a passion and natural talent in the fine arts as he grew up with his father, Quan Dong Jhi, who was a painter and professor at Yanbian University, China. His father’s enthusiasm and artistic talent left an impact on John Young and he concentrated on Impressionist artwork. He graduated with Fine art major from Yanbien University in Gilim Province, China in 1995. He meet his wife Ashley Lee who is also an artist during his college days at the Yanbian University, and these days they have been painting together in the atrium.
He mostly paints American landscapes and seascapes, while sometimes painting contemporary still-life. Recently, his artwork has been shown at numerous art exhibitions and art fairs in the United States and China. As a result, his paintings have been in the spotlight at many famous galleries and collectors nationwide.
