Josep Puigdengolas
Josep Puigdengolas Barella (Barcelona, 1906–1987) was one of the most important Catalan landscape painters of the 20th century. Trained at La Llotja and later in Florence, he became a professor of Landscape at the School of Fine Arts of Sant Jordi. He received several prestigious awards, including First Prize at the 1941 Autumn Salon, and his works are held in collections such as the Reina Sofía Museum and the MNAC. A specialist in Mediterranean landscapes, seascapes, and rural corners, his style evolved from realism to a freer, more luminous language deeply rooted in Catalan tradition.
