Born in Umbria, while still a child he left the places of his childhood and moved to Castelfidardo to continue his studies. Here, in an uncle's house, he met a painter, a family friend, who, observing some of his children's drawings, sensed his good natural aptitude in the use of signs and colors and encouraged him, also personally following him, to study them in depth.
As an adolescent he moved to Rome, going to live in Via del Governo Vecchio where he would reside for a long time. During this period he met and began to frequent groups of artists who orbited around Piazza Navona.
Curious to learn and a lover of beauty in all its expressions, he immersed himself with youthful enthusiasm in the world of art and culture in general. He took part in cultural salons, frequented evenings at the "Scaletta" in Via dell'Anima and the Caffè Greco, and followed the literary meetings of Ungaretti and illustrious exponents of the contemporary artistic world. In this way he had the opportunity to approach men of letters, painters, sculptors who contributed to his cultural and artistic maturation and to establish cordial friendships with important figures including the maestro Oberdan Petrini, a great composer, and professor Barz whose gallery he would become a regular visitor to.
In 1957 Finocchioli moved to Reggio Emilia and returned to Rome at the end of 1959.
This was the period in which Rome entered a climate of artistic ferment that brought it to the center of art. Numerous galleries began to open between Via del Babuino, Via Margutta, Via Sistina, Piazza di Spagna.
Finocchioli was present and a participant in this climate, fascinated by the stimulating atmosphere that the city was experiencing at the time. The 1960s were for Finocchioli an intense period of research into his own expressive and chromatic identity.
In the search for a pictorial expression that best represented his intimate feelings, he was attracted by the techniques and themes of the greats and of some who particularly stimulated him, including Stanislao Preti, Lanfranco, Leonor Fini.
The meeting with the master De Chirico, in whose pictorial movement Finocchioli finds his most authentic artistic form. He has participated in exhibitions and shows with Guttuso, Mirò, Dalì, Jan Calogero, Ciabatta, Omiccioli, De Chirico.
Since 1970 Finocchioli has been one of the "100 painters Via Margutta", an art association born in '54 as an art fair, promoted by the Municipality of Rome, which gave and still gives artists the opportunity to exhibit their works, directly in contact with the public in one of the most suggestive and artistic streets of the Capital, Via Margutta.
In 1974 Finocchioli together with two artist friends founded the Art Studio Tre, a studio that immediately aroused much interest among the public and critics.
In 1989 the partnership, receiving the approval of artists and critics, constitutes an association that will take its name from the studio itself, it will be called AST (Associazione Arte Studio Tre) with it the "Re di Roma" exhibition is born that gathers around it young talents and Finocchioli is the vice President.
In addition to the periodic exhibitions made every year together with the Associazione Cento Pittori via Margutta of which he is an Ordinary member and Arte Studio Tre of which he is a founding member, we remember the following personal and collective exhibitions. (Bio sourced from Romart)

Bilson was born in Reykjavik, Iceland. At the age of five he moved to London, England, speaking Icelandic rather more fluently than English. He realised that nobody was listening and started to paint. His unique talent was first noticed a year later, when, at the age of six, he won an international Exhibition of Children’s Art competition in Prague, Czechoslovakia. At the age of nineteen he became a full-time professional: self-taught, self-propelled and completely self-supported. He has painted ever since.
Bilson has lived in various countries including Australia, Hong Kong, USA, Canada, Ireland and now resides happily in Iceland. There continues to be a great deal of travelling and painting on the move, as well as continuing to exhibit worldwide.
Many of Bilson’s paintings are owned by well-known people and corporations, such as Bob Hawke – former Prime Minister of Australia, Jonathon Sachs – The Chief Rabbi, Clint Eastwood, Zsa Zsa Gabor, Anne Robinson, The Von Thyssen Collection, The Romanov Collection, Westinghouse, Ashland Oil and Arrowfield Horse Stud...

Modern Surrealist Painting by Richard Ericson

Located in New York, NY
Richard Joseph Ericson (American, 1922-2010)
Untitled, 1950
Oil on canvas
36 x 25 in.
Signed lower right: RJE '50
Richard Joseph Ericson (b. October 22, 1922-d. November 21, 2010), born in Chicago, Illinois. Son of Claire (b. 1899) and Arthur Ericson (b. 1899). His father was an accountant for a food products company and the family moved to Mount Vernon, Westchester County, New York, when he was a young child.
Ericson, a twin, first began to draw at age five and took up painting in oils at age twelve. He studied at the Art Students League in New York City in 1941, where he received an honorable mention during the annual scholarship competition held that year. During this period he worked as a commercial artist.
After America's entry in World War II Ericson enlisted in the Army in 1942, where he served as a warrant officer. He saw service in North Africa, France, and Germany. While overseas, he did many drawings of the places in which he was stationed. He eventually found himself guarding Italian prisoners of war who had been captured in Sicily and southern Italy. While performing his duties during 1943 and 1944 he found time to paint several important, large scale portraits of the prisoners who were happy to pose for him. As the war concluded he was able to visit Holland to study.
After nearly three years overseas, Ericson returned to America and traveled back to his home town of Chicago where he furthered his studies at the Art Institute of Chicago.
He married in 1948 and moved his young family to Mexico, where he attended Mexico City College. He studied art and exhibited while living there, receiving his Master of Arts degree, cum laude, in 1953.
For a time after his return to the United States he taught art in Dutchess County, New York, where he and his wife built their own house by hand. Eventually the family, which would come to include seven sons, settled in Hicksville, Long Island, New York. Ericson joined the staff of Hicksville High School as the art teacher in 1962, a position he would hold until his retirement in 1983.
As a teacher, Ericson was open to all fields and styles of art, constantly experimenting and experiencing new forms and styles. He had started printmaking in the late 1940's and continued to work in this medium for many years, producing mezzotints, etchings, and wood block prints. He also continued to paint, creating portraits, scenes in southern Dutchess County, and Long Island landscapes - for which he would become well known.
Ericson grew to love the area in which he lived, and depicted it quite often in his paintings. He became enamored with the historic village of Cold Spring Harbor...
