Reinhardt was a late Romantic animal and landscape painter. However, animals such as herds of sheep were more important to him. His ¼ often appear in auction catalogues. His early death prevented a long period of creativity. He had been working in Munich since 1869, after studying at the Dresden Academy of Fine Arts. We find in the beauty of his compositions a sense of passion suggesting the metamorphosis or communion between animal, man and the romantic nature. In the grip of depression, Reinhardt chose to commit suicide at Lake Traunsee in the Salzkammergut. This happened near Frauenkirchen. His works are sold in prestigious auction houses such as Christie's or Sotheby's.
