About the Item
Mario Reggio is a contemporary Roman painter with an extraordinary ability to interpret his hometown in an innovative and metaphysical way.
While Mario Reggio’s favourite subject is his hometown, which he knows and lives intimately, the subjects of his paintings comprehend views of other Italian cities such as Milan and Florence. Reggio’s creative originality is characterized by his ability to combine a realistic representation of his subjects with the use of metaphysical colours instead of real ones. His superb palette of colours is what both distinguishes him from those ones trying to imitate him, and determined his commercial success. Mario Reggio’s artworks are part of important private and public collections. Bulgari is one of his leading collectors. He also had more than eighty solo exhibitions, among which, one at the glamour Benetton Foundation and another one at Sandretto Re Rebaudengo Foundation (both in 2015). Mario Reggio is represented by the Milanese gallery Salamon fine art.

Mauro Reggio
Mauro Reggio (Rome, 1971) graduated at the Accademia di Belle Arti in Rome in 1993. Since 1992 he began to exhibit his works. The subjects of his paintings are always urban landscapes. In October 2001 he was selected for the Premio Giovani 2001 – Pittura of the National Academy of San Luca. The solo art exhibitions regarding his artworks are almost one hundred, in the most prestigious Italian and international places, and museums. His works were commissioned by the Starwood company for the St. Regis hotel in Rome and placed in the Grand Hall Cafè, in the restaurant and in the Bottega Veneta Suite. Bulgari s.p.a. purchased and placed his work in stores in New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, London, Hong Kong, Kuala Lumpur and in the headquarter in Rome. The Senate of the Italian Republic bought three large paintings for its permanent collection, two of which placed in the Sala dello Struzzo, and one commissioned for the central wall of the press conference room in Palazzo Madama.

-ARTIST STATEMENT-
I depict my person in multiplicity with different selves representing dramatis
personae. My likeness is both implicit and symbolic in the portrayal of my
narrative; the drama involved in creating art and the artist’s role in society. I
use realism to invite the viewer into mysterious inner worlds that are layered
reflections of the outer. Dehumanizing environments are imbued with art
historical references as a critique of power structures. The artist is an
Everyman who is at odds with society and his self.
Visually my work is a celebration of society’s dark undercurrents and its
overlooked absurdities. I use charcoal and printmaking media as their
tenebrous values add a fitting metaphor. The nuances of light and shadow
seduce viewers into a world their better judgment would have them avoid.
This provokes a sense of disquietude that causes viewers to assess our world
through the austerity of a colorless, yet not humorless, light.
-BIO-
Christopher Ganz grew up in Northeast Ohio and from early on had a fertile imagination and an interest in art. Christopher's artistic education truly began at the University of Missouri, where his love of the human form led to many figure drawing classes and his exposure to the wonders of printmaking. Christopher's then went onto graduate school at Indiana University and a summer abroad program in Italy was a dream realized. Christopher then grasped charcoal with a renewed vigor and large, sfumato-laden drawings ensued. Christopher's artistic influences are many; from a seminal exposure to Dore's engravings of the Divine Comedy, to Rembrandt, Caravaggio, Goya, and up to Lucian Freud, Mark Tansey, and Michael Mazur. Christopher is now an associate professor of printmaking and drawing at Indiana-Purdue University Fort Wayne. Christopher drawings are represented by Ann Nathan Gallery in Chicago, and he shows his prints across the nation.

ROME - In the Manner of G.Vanvitelli - Italian Landscape Oil on Canvas Painting
By Ettore Ferrante
Located in Napoli, IT
Rome - Ettore Ferrante Italia 2002 - Oil on canvas cm. 45x95
In this precious oil painting Ettore Ferrante is inspired by the views of the Dutch neutralized Italian painter Gaspar Adriaensz van Wittel, known as Casper, and known in Italy as Gaspare Vanvitelli. In particular this is a reinterpretation of the painting "View of the Tiber with Castel Sant'Angelo and San Pietro in the background" by Vanvitelli.
Taken from the left bank of the river, the view has its focal point in the circular mass of Castel Sant’Angelo, the pontifical fortress built on the central core of Hadrian's mausoleum and enriched with ramparts and patrol paths overlooking the water. In the background of the view, the Vatican basilica with the papal palaces responds to the vestiges of imperial power, while in the center the Sant'Angelo bridge, adorned with statues painted between 1669 and 1671 by Gian Lorenzo Bernini and his pupils, connects the two banks replacing the ancient Aelius bridge built by Hadrian.
No less interesting is the minor urban fabric...
