About the Item

Patrick Vale Vienna Beef Guy ink on paper 24h x 18.50w in 60.96h x 46.99w cm PKV005 See What I See Why are Chicago and baseball so perfect for each other? What is it about this city, this team, that captures the imagination? Patrick Vale, a British born artist, brings his unique eye and artistic fidelity to exploring this question. In collaboration with Ian Happ, Left Fielder for the Chicago Cubs, who has seen up close, season after season, the unique symbiotic relationship between the city, crowd and club, Patrick was able to explored the people and places of Cubs fandom. From Ian's dugout eve view to the intimate characters and rituals that bind the ball club together, Patrick and Ian's collaboration brings a modern expressive lens onto the fame of baseball and is an artistic love letter to the city and one of its most famous places.

The Hot Dog Man
By Bernard Aptekar
Located in New York, NY
As art historian and writer Suzanne Ramljak wrote "the ambivalent relationship between humanity and machinery has informed Aptekar's art from the start and remains a central theme in his work. Like many of the issues Aptekar addresses, technology is not without contradiction." The shocking imagery of juxtaposed human and natural forms with mechanical elements, using clear contours and colors, is certainly not oblivious of Fernand Leger latest work and what he called "the law of contrast". At the same time, the political and social commentary that are a constant inherent component of Aptekar's work has it's roots in the work of Mexican muralist Diego Rivera, who Apterkar met at age of 11. The outcome is an imagery of an extraordinary visual impact and absolutely unique to Aptekar's own creative process. This work "The Hot Dog...
