In this piece, artist Paul Renard depicts his subject in a most romantic yet academic way. The artist was truly a master of capturing the magic and romance of the busy streets of Paris portraying the way of the times effortlessly. With much attention to detail and subtle brush strokes using a wide color pallet, a beautiful rendition of the street with figures is accomplished. We are reminded of the great impressionists of the early 20th Century such as Edouard Cortès in this piece. Paris in all of its glory in the "Roses in the Cart" is a pertinent example of how Renard achieves excellence in his work, leaving us with emotions of Paris in Autumn during dusk effortlessly. This piece is signed lower right lower right and comes housed in a beautiful wood carved museum quality gold tone frame with hanging wire on verso ready to be displayed.

Paul Renard (French, 1941-1997). The art of Paul Renard can be best described as a true love story. He remained faithful his entire life to painting the soft scenes that he saw around him as a boy of the bustling sidewalks of Paris. He applied his sensitive and consuming fascination, with seeking to capture the beauty of French city life and country rivers on canvas as he saw them right up until his recent death. Renard wanted other to sense, see and feel what he spent his life adoring. Also, as in the greatest of love stories, Renard patiently studied and savored every nuance of his chosen affection. From the magnificence of lush river scenes of his birthplace in La Grenouillere, to the life swollen Parisian streets, his magic brush strokes entice the viewer to experience the impressions of the life he knew creating pieces filled with life and vibrancy.
PROVENANCE: Estate of a Private collection New Orleans, Louisiana; Private Collection Manhattan, New York; Lilac Gallery Collection. The piece will be stamped from Lilac Gallery on its verso.
