"In the middle of the Winter, the snow covering the forest and the ice covering the lake. A blue feeling all over, but for the warm and cozy space inside the cabin in the woods."
About the Artist:
Ricardo Maldonado loves painting and experimenting with color. He preferes natural outdoor subjects, as the light and colors change often with the seasons and the time of the day. Those changes, subtle or abrupt, are always challenging him. For Ricardo, painting is a passion and a discipline. Painting taught him to see things in a different way, observing every detail more carefully and more consciously, and ultimately appreciating more deeply all that surrounds him. Ricardo's paintings are often very colorful and create a very lively atmosphere for the viewer. Sometimes strong and colorful contrasts enhance the difference between light and shadows and brings up beautiful effects not seen often. "Bamboo Bar Code" was selected by the Cambridge Arts Council for marketing around town and on Cambridge MBTA buses announcing Cambridge Open Studios Spring 2012. Similarly, another painting titled "Where Bananas Come From" was selected for the announcement of Mass General Hospital's "Illuminations" exhibit Summer 2012.
