Ryan Akerley is a landscape painter based in Salt Lake City. He has always been intrigued, and inspired by the natural world. Learning to ski at age 5, and competing in freestyle skiing for over a decade, he has grown up in the mountains. Exploring, learning, and experiencing the awe of nature first hand, has led him to want to share these experiences with others. His current work focuses on the intricacy of the landscape, and the natural processes that combine to create our surroundings. Through study and practice he re-creates the landscape, expressing the movements and shapes of the earth. Utilizing abstract marks to create fine details, dramatic images unfold for the viewer to explore.
