Signed lower left 'Thomas Flavell' and painted circa 1930. Accompanied by partial Gimbel Galleries exhibition label with title 'White Barn'. Thomas Flevell studied at the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts. He is well known for his paintings of buildings in old Philadelphia neighborhoods. Flavell was also a Pennsylvania WPA artist. Thomas Flevell has work in the collection of the Smithsonian American Art Museum and the Metropolitan Museum, which were a gift of the Transfer from the U.S. Department of the Interior, National Park Service. These works were acquired through the Pennsylvania WPA. with old exhibition label from Gimbel Galleries, Philadelphia, circa 1930
