Sherry, William Grant (American, 1914-2003). ROCKPORT, MAINE, 1960. Oil on Canvas, signed lower right, and also signed, titled, dated, and inscribed on the verso "To my friends Shirley and Bill from Bill Sherry, 7/16/64." 16 1/8 x 18 1/4 inches, framed to 17 x 19 inches. In excellent condition. A view of woods, a house, water and a boat, all almost abstract.
Sheery was married to the actress Bette Davis from 1945 to 1950. He is the father of Davis's daughter, Barbara (BD) Merrill. They divorced when she became involved with Gary Merrill, her costar in "All About Eve." Merrill later adopted BD.
