Wilson Henry Irvine (28 February 1869 – 1936) was a master American Impressionist landscape painter.
Although most closely associated with the Old Lyme, Connecticut art colony headed by Florence Griswold, Irvine spent his early career near Chicago, a product of the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. Irvine also painted across Western Europe — where he produced outstanding American Impressionist versions of the local countryside.

SELLERS STATEMENT
I have been in the art business as an artist and collector since the early 80's. I primarily concentrate on my own art and collect American paintings when possible. My own art is derived in a variety of ways. I'm a responder. I respond to light, color, design, etc and I love painting both outdoors on location and in the studio under a controlled environment. I try to convey an idea, mood or just simply a beautiful setting. I'm inspired by a wide variety of subject matter and styles of painting and do not adhere to just one way.
My paintings have won numerous awards over the years and have been collected both nationally and internationally. They can be found in three museum collections, the White House Collection and many private collections.

Wilson Henry Irvine
Wilson Henry Irvine. From 1914 to 1917, the artist spent his summers painting at Old Lyme, Connecticut, where he became affiliated with the art colony there, and in 1918, he purchased a home on Sterling City Road in neighboring Hamburg. In 1926, he was elected an associate of the National Academy of Design. In 1914, when he was 45, Irvine moved his family from Chicago to Old Lyme, Connecticut, and became part of the famed Florence Griswold circle, now recognized as the "American Barbizon," at the hub of American Impressionism. Irvine is best known for his mastery of light and texture — a 1998 exhibit of his work was called Wilson Henry Irvine and the Poetry of Light. To capture subtle effects of light, Irvine often painted en plein air, wearing his trademark cap, knickers, and goatee, with his easel and his paints set up in the field. He was noted for his renderings of hazy summer days, as exemplified by this painting.
