Yeonsoo Kim 김연수
A Dead End

2019

About the Item

Oil on Canvas 31 1/2 × 31 1/2 in 80 × 80 cm This is a unique work. This work includes a Certificate of Authenticity. Yeonsoo Kim focuses on the color green, drawing from its neutral tone and energy. Kim’s landscapes are the portrait of her emotions, a freeform blend of memories and feelings. Green is the color between yellow and blue - it’s neutral in tone and energy, balancing and calming one’s mind and emotions. The reason we are so drawn to the green of nature may be our own instincts trying to flee from the endless adrenaline rush society constantly throws us into, always demanding more and faster. The landscapes I drew from were a freeform blend of memories and emotions - the sky, mountains, ocean, and all of its colors were filtered through my own personal sentiments before making its way onto the canvas. The reason my landscapes cannot be objective, is because my feelings overcome and mix into the scene as soon as I set my eyes on it. I let the mist and wind, the weather and color of the sky come together to decorate my emotions. Just as the haze of a flowing mist makes the same scenery more dreamlike. My landscapes are the portrait of emotions, the nature and weather being my expressions. by Kim, Yeonsoo

"Bayou in Blue & Gold" Landscape
By Max Flandorfer
Located in Soquel, CA
"Bayou in Blue & Gold" by Max Flandorfer (American, b. 1962). Presented in a giltwood frame. Signed "Max Flandorfer" lower left. Titled "Bayou in Blue & Gold," dated "2015" and signed on verso. Image: 12"H x 16"W. Primarily a plein air painter, Max is an avid outdoorsman and is always seeking to capture the spiritual and humble quality of nature. His work evokes a restful, contemplative stillness that he seeks, both in life and his art. Growing up in Miami, he spent most weekends and summers outdoors in the Everglades, or on the water soaking up the rich color, and beauty of the tropical landscape. Flandorfer lived in California for over 20 years, and currently resides in Ocean Springs, Mississippi. Mostly self-taught, Max was forever drawing and sketching as a kid, but the beautiful landscape, and rich artistic heritage of the Monterey peninsula's artist colony was the deciding influence on his later works. An illustration instructor, Jane Miller of Monterey Peninsula College encouraged him to study early California greats such as Granville Redmond...
