Thomas Tribby (American, b. 1944) is an internationally known artist who has participated in solo and group exhibitions in the United States and Europe.
He works in a variety of media, including watercolor, acrylic, and oil. Tribby has gallery representation in Florida and his paintings have been featured in articles in Waterfront Home and Design and Architectural Digest. Tribby has participated in juried and invitational shows in Florida, California, Arizona, Georgia, South Carolina, Tennessee, Washington, D.C., and New York, and in Paris, France.
In December 2007, Tribby had the honor of being one of nine painters in the American Delegation at Le Salon des Beaux Arts de la Société Nationale des Beaux Arts exhibition, known as the Paris Salon, at the Carrousel du Louvre in Paris, where his painting, Lifeguard, was exhibited.
In January 2008 Tribby received from the Design Center of the Americas, DCOTA, the prestigious Stars of Design award in the category of Art.
Tribby lives and works in West Palm Beach, Florida.

The Greek myth of Medea, the enchantress who helped Jason, leader of the Argonauts, obtain the magical Golden Fleece, is a classic story of betrayal and vengeance. Like many Greek myths, this one too has a tragic ending. She was of divine descent and had the gift of prophecy and married Jason. Theirs's was a passionate beginning but when Jason found another, Medea made the ultimate sacrifice by killing the children the two shared. Jason, Medea and the Golden Fleece is one of the oldest myths of a hero's quest. Gibbons portrays the hero as a bare-chested god with a halo of roses and gold. The Heroine is portrayed with a golden crown and an aura of golden rays surrounding her. The nude as an artist’s subject gained prominence in ancient Greece, wherein male nudes were rendered equivalent to power and victory owing to the Greeks’ celebration of men in athletic events as well as in the worship of the gods who populate Greek mythology. Nude sculptures in Greece positioned men as warriors — strong, moral and fearless. The naked female figures featured in prehistoric art and the art of ancient civilizations, on the other hand, were symbols of fertility and procreation.
Italian painters of the 1400s looked to the magnificent nude sculptures of Greek and Roman art for inspiration. Censorship was the order of the day, except for religious-themed works, such as 1526’s iconic Adam and Eve, an oil painting made by German Renaissance painter Lucas Cranach the Elder, one of more than 50 works made in his workshop based on the biblical story. Tuscan painter Daniele da Volterra was famously hired to paint fig leaves over the most exposed figures of Michelangelo’s Sistine Chapel. While freedom of expression for artists has expanded significantly since then, prudish censorship persists when it comes to Renaissance nudity.
