Located in Culver City, CA
"Toy Seller" Oil Painting 35" x 45" inch by Andrey Remnev ARTIST BIO: "My birth place is Yakhroma town, in the vicinity of Moscow. It is situated on high hills, from where broad Bruegelian vistas are open. The uneven terrain with significant differences of high and low; a canal between the Moskva river and the Volga; small rivers, woods and villages; a nearby ancient town of Dmitrov, which is equal to Moscow in age; ships cruising the canal and trains outdistancing them – all this I saw from my window since my early years. It was a view that embraced all the diversity of the world. This is why I can say that the impressions of my childhood and youth – beautiful nature and remarkable people – are the most important ones. In the museum of Moscow's St. Andronic Monastery I copied the best examples of the old Russian painting...

Girl from Gombe
Located in Ibadan, Oyo
Girl from Gombe is an original painting by Abifola Olorunlana. Olorunlana created Girl from Gombe with Acrylic on a 36W by 48H inches primed canvas. The Girl from Gombe is a two-portrait series about a young girl from Gombe who is trying to find balance in her personal life in a society that does not really care much about the mental health of young people. In each portrait, her bodily pose, complemented with fresh-looking green plants and every other element in the painting tells a story about all the good and bad choices that have led her to where she is; the influence of her academics, family, religion, and the friends she surrounds herself with. While she's fighting her insecurities, and facing a dilemma in her career choice, she seems to persevere in living. Whenever I look at my subject and listen to her talk, all I see is a beautiful girl who has fallen prey to what we all refer to as life: Abifola Olorunlana decided to narrate with paint on canvas as a reminder that no matter what the situation is, as long as we are alive our lives can always get better. Shipping Procedure Ships in a well-protected tube from Nigeria This work is unique, not a print or other type of copy. Nakedness of Truth
Located in Ibadan, Oyo
Nakedness of Truth is an original painting by Abifola Olorunlana. Olorunlana created Nakedness of Truth with Acrylic on a 36W by 48H inches primed canvas. Nakedness of Truth was made over a painting Abifola Olorunlana did and didn't like (an underlying painting depicting four figures fetching water from a river and gossiping about someone they didn't like). The Nakedness of Truth is a painting that advocates for people who belong to the LGBTQ community and salutes their unity in making the movement impactful globally. For years many have stayed reclusive about their true identity due to religious beliefs, societal constructs, and government laws which have left many depressed till their last days, many were even killed for courageously coming out to state their true identity. This is depicted in the painting: dark yellow eyes sticking out of the woods to portray a sense of public rejection, yet my subject boldly stands out of the green woods and leaves to express courage, strength, and power. Shipping Procedure Ships in a well-protected tube from Nigeria This work is unique, not a print or other type of copy. Influence
Located in Ibadan, Oyo
The artwork titled "Influence" depicts a lady who appears to be lost in thought. She is portrayed with a blue and yellow color around her neck, which stands out against the grey background. The artwork is captivating, and it seems to tell a story of its own. The lady's posture suggests that she is deep in thought, perhaps reflecting on something significant. The blue and yellow colors around her neck add to the intrigue, leaving the viewer to wonder about their meaning. The colors are bold and bright, almost as if they are trying to break through the grey background. The title of the artwork, "Influence," adds another layer to the piece's meaning. It could be interpreted as the lady being influenced by something or someone, or perhaps she is the one who exerts influence on others. Either way, the title makes the artwork more thought-provoking and leaves the viewer with questions. The use of color in the artwork is striking. The blue and yellow around the lady's neck create a sense of vibrancy and life. The grey background, while muted, provides a subtle contrast that emphasizes the colors around her neck. The color choices are deliberate, each color has its own symbolic meaning. Blue is often associated with calmness, trust, and communication, while yellow is associated with optimism, happiness, and energy. The overall composition of the artwork is simple yet powerful. The lady is the focal point of the piece, and her posture and expression convey a sense of introspection. The blue and yellow colors around her neck draw the viewer's attention, and the grey background provides a sense of stillness and calmness. The artwork is open to interpretation, and the viewer may interpret it in different ways. Some may see it as a representation of someone deep in thought, while others may see it as a symbol of inner strength and influence. Whatever the interpretation, the artwork is visually striking and thought-provoking. In conclusion, "Influence" is a beautiful and thought-provoking artwork that portrays a lady lost in thought with blue and yellow colors around her neck on a grey background. The artwork's title and use of color add to its complexity, leaving the viewer with questions and interpretations. It is a testament to the power of art and its ability to evoke emotions and stimulate the mind. While I Wait
Located in Ibadan, Oyo
While I Wait is an original painting by Joseph Christian Ekom-Obong. Joseph created While I Wait with Oil on a 36W by 48H inches primed canvas. The artwork titled "While I Wait" depicts a black young lady who is expectant of love and all the good things that come with it. The artwork is a beautiful representation of hope, patience, and the human desire for companionship and love. The artwork features a young woman standing in the center of the canvas, with her eyes opened and her arms slightly extended as if she is waiting to be embraced by someone. She is dressed in a simple yet elegant dress, which symbolizes her purity and innocence. Her hair is styled in a natural Afro, which adds to the authenticity and realism of the artwork. The artist has used a warm color palette in the background, which creates a cozy and intimate atmosphere. The use of warm colors such as orange and yellow also symbolizes love, passion, and warmth, which are all the emotions that the young lady is waiting to experience. One of the most striking features of the artwork is the expression on the young lady's face. She has a serene and peaceful expression, which indicates that she is content and at peace with herself. However, there is also a hint of anticipation and longing in her eyes, which reveals that she is waiting for someone special to come into her life. The title of the artwork, "While I Wait," adds to the emotional depth of the piece. It suggests that the young lady has been waiting for a long time and that she is willing to wait patiently for as long as it takes to find the love and happiness that she desires. The artwork is a beautiful representation of the human experience of longing and waiting for love. It is a universal theme that is relevant to people of all ages and backgrounds. Joseph Christian Ekom-Obong has captured this theme with great skill and sensitivity, creating an artwork that is both visually stunning and emotionally moving. In conclusion, the artwork titled "While I Wait" is a beautiful and poignant representation of the human experience of waiting for love. The young lady in the artwork is a symbol of hope, patience, and the unending desire for companionship and love. The artwork is a powerful reminder that no matter how long we have to wait, love is always worth waiting for. An elegant and sophisticated decorative touch in any living space, portrait paintings have remained popular throughout the years and are widely loved pieces of art for display in many homes today.

Portrait paintings are at least as old as ancient Egypt, where realistic, lifelike depictions of the recently deceased — commonly known as “mummy portraits” — were painted on wooden panels and affixed to mummies as part of the burial tradition.

For centuries, painters have used portraiture as a means of expressing a subject’s nobility, societal status and authority. Portraits were given as gifts in Renaissance Europe, and a portrait artist might have been commissioned to help mark a significant occasion such as a wedding or a promotion to high office. Prior to the advent of photography, which eventually replaced painted portraits as a quicker and more efficient way of capturing a person’s essence, the subject of a portrait had to sit for hours until the painter had finished. And during the 18th century in particular, if an artist commissioned for a portrait struggled with how to adequately memorialize and capture a subject’s likeness, sometimes a portrait painting wasn’t completed for up to a year.

Whether it’s part of the gallery-style approach to your living-room or dining-room walls or merely inspiration as you devise an eye-grabbing color scheme in your home, a portrait painting is a timeless decorative object for any interior. A landscape painting or sculpture might give you the kind of insight into a specific region of the world or a different culture that you can ascertain only through art. Similarly, when you take the time to learn about the subject of a portrait painting that you bring into your home — the sitter’s history, the relationship between the sitter and the artist should one exist, the story of how the portrait came to be — that work can become intensely personal in addition to its place as an object for an art-hungry corner of your apartment or house.
