About the Item
This elegantly framed artwork is currently on display and available for sale at Signet Contemporary Art Gallery and online.
A vision of delicacy and refinement, Cherries in a Saucer captures the lush decadence of perfectly ripened fruit. The deep crimson cherries, each gleaming with a luminous sheen, rest effortlessly in an ornate porcelain dish, their slender stems arching gracefully in different directions. The golden trim of the dish adds a touch of opulence, elevating the composition into one of simple luxury.
Painting is framed and ready for display,
Titorenkov’s brushwork is nothing short of exquisite—the cherries appear almost tangible, their plumpness inviting the viewer to reach out and touch. The soft play of light enhances their rich, velvety texture, while subtle shadows ground them in an environment of quiet elegance. The creamy, neutral background ensures the deep reds take center stage, drawing the eye irresistibly toward the fruit.
More than just a still life, Cherries in a Saucer is a moment of sensory indulgence, a celebration of ripeness and temptation. It evokes the joy of seasonal abundance, the pleasure of taste, and the artistry of nature itself.
Artist Bio:
Born in 1963 in Kotel, Bulgaria, Alexander Titorenkov is a renowned painter whose works masterfully blend hyperrealism with elements of photorealism and surrealism. His unique artistic voice has earned him a significant place in contemporary art, with his paintings housed in prestigious collections worldwide.
Titorenkov's artistic journey began in 1982 when he graduated from the Art School in Sofia, Bulgaria. He continued his education at The Glasgow School of Art in Scotland, where he specialized in Mural Painting in 1990. The following year, he graduated from the National Art Academy in Sofia with a Master of Arts (Hons) in Mural Painting, further cementing his mastery of the craft.
Over the course of his career, Titorenkov has participated in numerous group art exhibitions from 1988 to 2017, showcasing his exceptional technical skill and unique vision. His paintings are recognized for their precise details and intricate compositions, which reflect both classical training and modern sensibilities.
Titorenkov's style is rooted in hyperrealism, but he often incorporates elements of photorealism and surrealism to create a dynamic tension in his work. He chose these styles as the most fitting means of expressing his sense of form and artistic ideas. For Titorenkov, the academic foundation of form and image serves as a tool for exploring modern and abstract concepts, allowing for personal interpretation by each viewer. While his compositions may appear hyperrealistic, they often touch on universal, timeless themes and evoke deep, philosophical questions.
The technique Titorenkov employs is known for its meticulous attention to detail and time-consuming nature. His works require immense patience and precision, with each painting taking great care to achieve the level of realism and depth that defines his style. As he explains, this challenging process is integral to the emotional and aesthetic power of his art, and he hopes that viewers will appreciate the true merits of his work.
Titorenkov's work has been featured in major collections, including the National Art Gallery in Sofia, Bulgaria, as well as in private collections across the USA, the UK, Australia, the Netherlands, Israel, Spain, and Germany. He has received prestigious accolades throughout his career, including First Prize in the National Art Academy Competition in Sofia in 1989 and First Prize in an International Art Competition in New York’s Soho, Art 54 Gallery, in 1993.

“My artistic style is rooted in hyperrealism, with elements of photorealism and occasional touches of surrealism. I chose these styles because they best express my sense of form and ideas. Through my work, I aim to showcase the academic foundation of form and image as a tool for developing modern and abstract concepts—ideas that can be interpreted by everyone in their own way. Despite the hyperrealistic nature of my compositions, they often explore universal themes and timeless subjects.
I am deeply inspired by the great masters of the Renaissance and often wonder how their works would evolve if they lived in the 20th or 21st century. In a way, I secretly hope that some of their paintings might resemble mine.
The technique I employ is both challenging and time-consuming, requiring patience and precision in every detail. I hope that viewers will appreciate the dedication and care invested in each piece, recognizing the true merit of the work.”- Alexander Titorenkov

A feast of form and color, Cherries by Heinz Schönhammer is a celebration of pure, gleaming abundance. The canvas overflows with clusters of ripe, red fruit, each cherry painted with a mirror-like sheen that catches and reflects light in dazzling variation. The repetition of round forms and taut skin creates a rhythm that pulses with life and ripeness.
Schönhammer’s hyperrealist style turns the surface into a field of sensual delight—light glances across glossy surfaces while stems curve like elegant calligraphy. Deep burgundies, bright crimsons, and inky purples intermingle, lending the composition a velvety richness that’s as tactile as it is visual.
Cherries is a vibrant ode to color, excess, and nature’s indulgence, elevated to visual poetry through masterful control of light and tone. This exceptional artwork is currently on display and available for sale at Signet Contemporary Art Gallery and online.
