About the Item
"Happy Daffodils" Daffodils are the harbinger of spring. They peek through the soil in gardens and are tied in bunches in buckets at Trader Joe's. Winter has turned a corner. It is the season of renewal, rebirth and reawakening. Spring is in the air.
Artist Carole Garland delights in her abstracted daffodils, the petals are in and out of the spotlight through deft brushwork. Like the hummingbird or the butterfly, our eyes move around the bouquet, landing on one
flower and then another.
The flowers are not subject to equal focus, as in a photograph where every detail is itemized. Garland chooses to make certain daffodils significant to the design while others recede in value to create an exciting composition. She paints in layers, applying the squeegee, scraping and impasto, as inspired.
This 20x16 inch oil painting on a wood panel is wired for ease of hanging. The natural birch wood sides
may serve as a frame.
Carole Garland was a student of art at Knox College, Galesburg, Illinois; the Art Institute of Chicago, and the University of the Americas in Mexico City. She did art workshops in St Tropez, France and San Miguel
de Allende. She has been influenced by many fine artists and teachers, most recently fine artist David Gallup,
former vice president of the California.
She is in art collections throughout the United States and has shown in numerous venues throughout
Southern California. Her florals can be viewed at Kathryne Design Studio, Montecito.
