About the Item
This exceptional artwork is currently on display and available for sale at Signet Contemporary Art Gallery and online.
In Lemon Jelly Marmalade, Heidi Von Faber captures the delicate beauty of a jar filled with lemon marmalade, its smooth surface reflecting the warm light that pours onto it. The piece is created with acrylics on linen, blending the richness of realism with the subtle elegance of still life. Through her meticulous attention to detail, Von Faber draws the viewer’s gaze to the translucent jelly inside the jar, while the soft texture of the jar itself and the scattered lemon slices complement the composition.
The color palette in Lemon Jelly Marmalade is dominated by the warm yellows of the marmalade, contrasted by the deep, almost velvety blacks of the background. This striking use of color highlights the vibrancy of the marmalade, making it almost luminous in the frame. The careful placement of the lemons around the jar, with their smooth, golden skin, enhances the richness of the piece, while the slight sheen on the jar’s surface reflects the soft lighting in a way that adds depth to the painting.
Von Faber’s approach to realism is evident in every brushstroke. The textures of the jar and fruit appear tactile, inviting the viewer to imagine the sensation of reaching out to touch them. Her precise technique and the striking colour contrast make this work a beautiful example of how still life can capture the intimate, everyday moments that surround us, elevating them into art.
Artist Bio:
Heidi von Faber (1963) The Hague, The Netherlands. Heidi finds inspiration in the use of light in the paintings by the Old Dutch Masters. This use of light in her work make the everyday topics of her realistic paintings really stand out. This is why she usually works against a dark background. She likes to create a restful image without too many frills. Because of the subject matter, often objects in everyday use, and the seeming simplicity of her style, her creations have a contemporary look. Glass objects and colourful fruit feature regularly in her work. She finds it important that the composition forms a logical unity and looks appealing. She paints with acrylics on linen.

Heidi von Faber
Heidi Von Faber lives and works in The Hague, Holland. The Hague artist Heidi Von Faber makes still lifes according to the tradition of the old masters. Her often dark still lifes show extremely realistic contemporary atmospheric subjects. Everyday, but also special subjects such as cups for the coffee machine and macaroons in a bowl for coffee next to a beautiful coffee machine. Very special because of the light against the extremely dark background. Heidi Von Faber herself about this: I like to create a calming image without frills. The simplicity and the subjects, often used in everyday life, give the work a contemporary look. I think it is important that the composition forms a logical whole and has an atmospheric appearance. The artist gives her own interpretation and addition to the 'still life genre' through her working method and compositions.

With astonishing clarity and kinetic grace, Lemon by Heinz Schönhammer captures the exhilarating moment citrus meets water. The scene bursts to life as glowing yellow slices plunge into a pristine glass, scattering droplets and swirls in high-definition precision. Every splash and bubble is suspended in time, rendered in oil with such finesse that the viewer feels the chill and fizz of impact.
Schönhammer’s technical prowess invites awe—his ability to manipulate paint into liquid transparency and refracted light is nothing short of masterful. The luminous oranges glow from within, while the glass shimmers with crisp refractions and dynamic shadows. The contrast between the stark, moody background and the effervescent motion within the glass electrifies the composition.
Lemon becomes a study in energy and clarity, elevating a simple subject into an extraordinary meditation on light, texture, and immediacy. This exceptional artwork is currently on display and available for sale at Signet Contemporary Art Gallery and online.

Toust - original realism still life painting - contemporary Art
Located in London, Chelsea
This exceptional artwork is currently on display and available for sale at Signet Contemporary Art Gallery and online.
Luxurious and indulgent, Toust transforms a familiar comfort food into a monument of sensuous abundance. Heinz Schönhammer’s oil on canvas depicts a lavish croque madame in glorious exaggeration—cheese cascading in molten waves, yolk gleaming like a jewel, and soft pink ham folding between slices of golden, toasted bread. Every element appears touchable, edible, larger than life.
The painting plays with scale and desire, inviting the viewer to revel in excess. Shadows and highlights are used sculpturally, turning cheese into silk and bread into velvet. The saturated palette of creams, golds, and blues lends the work both warmth and richness, making the composition feel both hyperreal and dreamlike.
Toust is not simply a depiction of food—it’s an invitation to indulge in visual pleasure. Schönhammer elevates the mundane to the magnificent, with every drip, ooze, and fold rendered in delicious detail. This exceptional artwork is currently on display and available for sale at Signet Contemporary Art Gallery and online.

Cherries - original realism still life painting - contemporary Art
Located in London, Chelsea
This exceptional artwork is currently on display and available for sale at Signet Contemporary Art Gallery and online.
A feast of form and color, Cherries by Heinz Schönhammer is a celebration of pure, gleaming abundance. The canvas overflows with clusters of ripe, red fruit, each cherry painted with a mirror-like sheen that catches and reflects light in dazzling variation. The repetition of round forms and taut skin creates a rhythm that pulses with life and ripeness.
Schönhammer’s hyperrealist style turns the surface into a field of sensual delight—light glances across glossy surfaces while stems curve like elegant calligraphy. Deep burgundies, bright crimsons, and inky purples intermingle, lending the composition a velvety richness that’s as tactile as it is visual.
Cherries is a vibrant ode to color, excess, and nature’s indulgence, elevated to visual poetry through masterful control of light and tone. This exceptional artwork is currently on display and available for sale at Signet Contemporary Art Gallery and online.
