About the Item
This exceptional artwork is currently on display and available for sale at Signet Contemporary Art Gallery and online.
In Red Currants and Jug II, Heidi Von Faber explores the beauty of nature’s simplicity through a realist lens, presenting a jug filled with deep crimson currants and their vibrant reflections. Created with acrylics on linen, the painting exudes a sense of warmth and quiet elegance. The plump berries spill out of the jug and onto the surface beneath them, creating a sense of natural chaos that contrasts with the calm, methodical placement of the jug itself.
The color palette of this work is rich and vibrant, with the vivid red of the currants standing out against the dark, muted background. The warm light that touches the jug and berries gives the piece a radiant glow, while the surrounding shadows deepen the overall mood. The subtle transitions between the dark hues and the bright red tones create a compelling visual harmony, making this painting a captivating piece that draws the viewer in with its balance and richness.
Von Faber’s ability to recreate the textures of the currants—each berry seeming almost lifelike—and the soft reflections on the glass jug showcases her skill in rendering natural forms. Her use of acrylics brings a level of luminosity to the work, with the still life appearing almost tangible. The artist’s precision and sensitivity to light and texture create a piece that invites contemplation, making it a standout example of contemporary realism.
Artist Bio:
Heidi von Faber (1963) The Hague, The Netherlands. Heidi finds inspiration in the use of light in the paintings by the Old Dutch Masters. This use of light in her work make the everyday topics of her realistic paintings really stand out. This is why she usually works against a dark background. She likes to create a restful image without too many frills. Because of the subject matter, often objects in everyday use, and the seeming simplicity of her style, her creations have a contemporary look. Glass objects and colourful fruit feature regularly in her work. She finds it important that the composition forms a logical unity and looks appealing. She paints with acrylics on linen.

Heidi von Faber
Heidi Von Faber lives and works in The Hague, Holland. The Hague artist Heidi Von Faber makes still lifes according to the tradition of the old masters. Her often dark still lifes show extremely realistic contemporary atmospheric subjects. Everyday, but also special subjects such as cups for the coffee machine and macaroons in a bowl for coffee next to a beautiful coffee machine. Very special because of the light against the extremely dark background. Heidi Von Faber herself about this: I like to create a calming image without frills. The simplicity and the subjects, often used in everyday life, give the work a contemporary look. I think it is important that the composition forms a logical whole and has an atmospheric appearance. The artist gives her own interpretation and addition to the 'still life genre' through her working method and compositions.

Lemonade II - original still life realism painting - contemporary Artwork
By Heidi von Faber
Located in London, Chelsea
This exceptional artwork is currently on display and available for sale at Signet Contemporary Art Gallery and online.
Lemonade II by Heidi Von Faber invites the viewer to experience the refreshing simplicity of a glass pitcher filled with freshly made lemonade. With the smooth, translucent liquid catching the light, the artist captures the moment when the drink appears almost as if it were glowing. Painted with acrylics on linen, the work embodies the essence of realism, offering a detailed portrayal of everyday life that is both inviting and contemplative.
The color palette of Lemonade II is predominantly composed of cool yellows and greens, evoking a sense of freshness and vitality. The transparent liquid of the lemonade, paired with the faint yellow hues of the lemon slices, provides a gentle contrast to the deep, dark background. The artist uses these subtle contrasts to emphasize the texture of the glass and the delicacy of the liquid inside, making the viewer appreciate the object’s simple beauty.
Von Faber’s technique is impeccable, with every brushstroke working to enhance the clarity of the glass and the refreshing tone of the lemonade. The smooth surface of the pitcher contrasts with the rough texture of the linen, giving the painting a sense of tactile depth. Her approach to still life realism...

Still Life with Grapes - original still life realism painting - contemporary art
Located in London, Chelsea
Dramatic and luxurious, Still Life with Grapes is a striking study of contrast, texture, and abundance. The deep blue-black grapes spill onto a delicate porcelain plate, their clustered forms exuding a natural opulence. The twisting vine, reaching upward like a sculptural relic, adds an element of wild elegance, while the surrounding leaves, tinged with autumnal hues, remind us of the inevitable change of seasons.
Titorenkov’s exquisite use of light and shadow heightens the depth of this composition—the grapes shimmer under soft illumination, each one a study in transparency and reflection. The intricate blue patterns of the plate lend an air of timeless refinement, grounding the composition in a sense of tradition. Against the stark darkness of the background, the fruit and its organic details stand out with mesmerizing clarity.
This painting is more than a depiction of fruit; it is a testament to nature’s richness, to the beauty of growth and decay, and to the fleeting, yet eternal, nature of the harvest. Still Life with Grapes speaks of abundance, nostalgia, and the simple pleasures of the earth’s bounty.
