Rolando Aguilar was born in the year 1957. He studied at the Municipal School of Plastic Arts of Quetzaltenango. He has presented personal exhibitions and participated in more than 50 collective exhibitions in Quito, Ecuador, Taiwan, Norway, El Salvador, Nicaragua and Canada. He was director of the Regional School of Art "Humberto Garavito", of Quetzaltenango. He has won Gold and Bronze glyphs at the Art Paiz Biennial (1980, 1982 and 1984) and two awards at the Arturo Martínez Contest.
