Carroll Shelby/Sebring, FL by Al Satterwhite, 1964, Archival Pigment Print
Located in Dallas, TX
Edition of 25 Signed, titled, dated and numbered. Paper size: 20 x 16 in. AVAILABLE SIZES: 11 x 14 in., Edition of 25 16 x 20 in., Edition of 25 "The discovery of fast cars and auto racing rocked my world as a high school student in the early 1960s. After graduating I did everything I could to wrangle assignments to cover two of the biggest international endurance races held annually in Florida. The Daytona 24-Hour and Sebring 12-Hour races were the highlight of my early years as a photographer. Covering racing events in the Sixties was a lot different from what it is today. Access to the racers and the cars was much easier and there were far fewer photographers covering any event. As a fan and a photojournalist in search of a great story, I usually hung around Carroll Shelby’s pit. Shelby and his Cobras were always race winning contenders. “Shel” was easy to work with and to be around. He let me do what I wanted and go where I pleased to capture a story. At the 1964 Sebring race, Shel was recovering from surgery, alternating between crutches and a wheelchair. As his good friend and motor racing artist Bill Neale...

"In March 1969, talented music writer Stanley Booth and I visited Macon, Georgia and Muscle Shoals, Alabama, on assignment for Rolling Stone. Among other southern music royalty, we hung out with Phil Walden of Redwal Music, the Macon music company Phil started with Otis Redding. At Redwal we were taken into the recording studio where we were introduced to the Allman Brothers; the band was in the studio rehearsing. This was very, very early in the career of the Allman Brothers; the band had only recently been shaped into its new form by Walden. From left to right: Berry Oakley, Duane Allman...

Il passo sospeso del pedone, Roma 1962 - Full Framed Black & White Photography
Located in Brussels, BE
Artwork # 1 on 5 sold in perfect condition Limited Edition of 5 + 2 AP The artwork is mounted on dibond and fixed in American floating box (black metal frame) The passo sospeso del pedone. Hesitant gait of the pedestrian who faces snow and car traffic in Piazza San Silvestro. Artwork printed on baryta paper 310 grs museum quality pigment inks, limited edition of 7 copies in total Brussels Art Edition is the custodian of the archives of the great Italian photographer Fabrizio La Torre. For almost 10 years, long and meticulous work has been carried out to restore these negatives and present these photos to collectors and the public. This year, we have practically completed the "Rome" file, this city where Fabrizio was born in 1921, where he spent a large part of his life, and where he was passionate about the daily life of its inhabitants in this period. 1950s-60s. Like all the films of post-war Italian neorealist cinema, La Torre was able to capture these moments of sincerity and simplicity in a city that had not yet been transfigured by modernity. While a few streets away, world famous actors and sexy starlets met in the rhinestones and glitter of the Dolce Vita, Fabrizio gazed into our simplest feelings, friendship, love and envy. of humour, those which truly make life sweeter and more beautiful. As a preview, we present here a selection of these never seen before photos Fabrizio La Torre (b. Rome 1921 d. Brussels 2014) was an Italian neo-realist photographer working during the period 1950-1960 who left behind a body of work focussing on three specific geographical areas: Italy, North America, which he spent several months visiting in 1955 and Asia where he lived for five years (1956-61). Fascinated by the task of capturing moments of truth and intimacy which characterise the human condition all over the world, he gives us moments of insight into life which reach out to us bridging time and distance. He holds up to us an affectionate and benign mirror, always knowing, sometimes amused but never mocking. In 1965, success came knocking at his door: he was offered the possibility of exhibitions and publication but he turned it down for reasons he never fully explained. The most we can do is note that this was also the time when the immense talent and historical importance of the photographic works, produced a century earlier by his grandfather Enrico Valenziani, were discovered. This may have made him feel he could not compete, particularly as he came from a family which was possessed of multiple artistic talents but in which no-one claimed to be an artist. Perhaps he saw himself as “a photographer” who was just the grandson of one of the founding fathers of Italian photography...

"Christian & Nathan Fletcher", Islamorada, Florida, 1995
Located in Hudson, NY
Listing is for UNFRAMED print. Inquire within for framing. Edition 1 of 10. If the exhibition piece is sold or the customer orders a different print size, the photograph is produced upon purchase. Please allow two weeks for production. Shipping time depends on method of shipping. Price is subject to availability. The Robin Rice Gallery reserves the right to adjust this price depending on the current edition of the photograph. In her new exhibition Churilla draws from her years spent as a swimmer, lifeguard, and athlete to capture the forgotten freedom and exuberance of days of youth spent on the water. Viva la Vida is a mix of timeless portraits and candid photographs "I’ve always been drawn to the water- now my art, my sense of athleticism, freedom and oasis have merged in a way", says Churilla. Her nod to iconic photographers from the past, such as Edward Weston, and Herbert List, is apparent in her portrait work. In another Christian & Nathan Fletcher is in the midst of a surf crusade off the coast of Islamorada, Florida. Christian pioneered a new revolution in surfing style with his aerial techniques. The artist’s genuine connection to her subjects allows the viewer to forget the presence of a camera and to be drawn into the personal narrative. The invitational image Longboard Afternoon, taken at Ditch Plains, Montauk, focuses on the portrayal of the atmosphere rather than the individual subjects. With a 70’s feel the viewer is intrigued by the layers of life, activity and parallel moments shared by silhouettes of surfers carrying longboards at hazy days end. One such image, Gustavo, depicts a male figure seated poolside with head bowed. The pose and the wet sheen to his hair and skin give the subject a classic, sculptural look. All the photographs exhibited in are in various sizes are printed on heavy weight cotton paper with the traditional glossy baryta surface in rich tones of black and white. Her artist mother, Barbara Churilla, involved her in creating art, sculpture, painting and photography from an early age. She was raised in Princeton, New Jersey. She graduated from School of Visual Arts in NYC with a BFA in Photography. Lynda began her photo assisting career with legendary photographer Bruce Weber. Over a period of almost a decade she traveled the world with Weber learning not only knowledge of photography, but also life. Eventually becoming his trusted first assistant before embarking on her own photography adventure. Churilla’s work has been celebrated in American Photo, where she was heralded as one of the young visionaries of 21st century. She has photographed numerous celebrities, such as Cameron Diaz, Jewel, Olivier Martinez, Coldplay, Pet Shop Boys...
