About the Item

In 1998, wherever you looked, you could see the Chrysler Building. From the vantage point of the Greater East River/ Flushing Bay, Photographer Mitchell Funk captures the Chrysler Building in silhouette. It is defined by strong lighting that increases it's dramatic effect. A passing barge stacked with containers dominates the foreground space. Yet this image is not about a barge stacked with containers. Can a subject be the center or focus, even if it is of a subdued color and set back in the composition? The uploaded video on 1stDibs is coming up a bit off color. 'Sombras Doradas (5)' Large Scale Photo, Desert Silhouette Sunset Yellow Gold
By Sophia Milligan
Located in Penzance, GB
'Sombras Doradas (2)' Limited edition archival photograph. Unframed, hand signed and numbered _________________ Shadows painted on the finca wall: low December sun, golden, luminous, casting soft silhouettes through the aperture of the Eucalyptus leaves. Sophia's poetic photographs are an exploration of the balance in all things: in the sensual interplay of light and shadow; in wild raw energy and serene stillness; in the enduring and the effervescent. They are a contemplation of the awareness that everything in existence is temporary, they speak of the ephemeral nature of all things. Moments, feelings, experiences cherished and appreciated in their impermanence, for that is where the beauty comes from. 'I work with time, and the immeasurable spaces of experience within... tangible traces, evidence left behind, records; process in action, stilled'. 40 x 60 inches Limited edition of 25 Archival Print on Hahnemühle Photo Rag® paper, one of the most beautiful and high quality art papers available. The luxurious matt finish provides a reflection free image that is rich in detail, depth and tone. Hand signed, titled and numbered to the lower right corner on an approximately 1 inch white border.
