About the Item
Bright with pastel colors Live Composition I, 2024 by African American artist Bai is a 30” x 22” abstract acrylic and oil pastel work on paper. Rendered in a primitive art style that blends immediacy and expressiveness, the piece composed of vibrant pastel colors radiates joy and spontaneity. The use of acrylic and oil pastel on paper creates texture with loose, organic shapes and forms emerging in the composition. For a jazz-informed piece the primitive aesthetic invites viewers into the painter’s world of dynamic shapes, abstract forms, and harmonious color, celebrating rhythm, raw emotion, in short, the essence of abstract art.
Ships unframed.
In the artist's words:
"Colour becomes symbols I use to reflect emotional states that humans experience – reds for the violent past, blues, greens for the peace to come, and yellow and oranges for the bright future ahead. The latter is not guaranteed in my paintings. However, I think peace is attainable in life." ~Carl Karni-Bain (BAI), Harlem, New York City
