This piece is part of the ’Where the Land Meets the Sea’ limited edition series, which gathers some artworks taken from Damien Hirst's latest series ’Coast Paintings’, ’Sea Paintings’ and ’Seascapes’. This work in particular called Studland Bay is an edition of the original painting entitled CP12, which belongs to the ’Coast Paintings’ series. Created in 2019, ’Coast Paintings’ are named after some British coastal locations. Over a grey background, which represents England's grey skies in winter, the explosive colourful drops and splashes try to depict the energy, excitement and change that the artist experiments with by the seaside of his native island in winter. The ’Coast Paintings’ are intended to give a feeling of light fragmented in angry seas. Damien Hirst represents this passion using the same colourful palette that can be found in the artist's acclaimed ’Cherry Blossoms’ series. Studland Bay is located in the south of England, belonging to Dorset County.
