Abstract Composition is an original Contemporary artwork realized in the 1971 in Italy by the italian artist Leo Guida.
Original Etching and mized media on paper. Dated and Hand-signed by the artist in pencil on the lower left corner: Leo Guida '71.

Abstract Composition is an interesting work realized by a great Italian artist of the XX Century. The work depicts a shape similar to a face with a single color. On the work there are some incisions too.
This work has been realized by the Italian artist Leo Guida. Sensitive to current issues, artistic movements and historical techniques, Leo Guida has been able to weave with many generations of young people in the course of his career, a productive conversation on art and the function of the artist. He was a teacher at the Liceo Artistico in Latina from 1969 to 1985, and he trained many of the artists who today characterize the Italian cultural scene. Copious was his production of graphic works in which Guida showed all his talent for the techniques of chalcography, etching, aquatint and burin etc.

Leo Guida
Prolific throughout the 1960s and 1970s, artist Leo Guida was an influential Italian painter and printmaker.
Beginning in 1969, Guida served as a teacher for nearly two decades at the Liceo Artistico in Latina. While he worked with watercolor paints to create much of his known art, he produced a wide range of graphic prints that is representative of his talents.
Guida worked with Chinese ink and was fluent in a variety of printmaking techniques, which included chalcography, engraving and aquatint. The latter is a technique named for its resemblance to watercolor or ink wash, while engraving is a method of making prints by incising lines into a metal plate with a sharp tool called a burin. Chalcography sees an artist engraving on copper or brass plates.
Guida made art in all kinds of styles over the course of his career. The bulk of his drawings and etchings are richly detailed and fantastical — they feature nudes, imagery from nature and depictions of mythological creatures. Guida’s works on paper show the influence of Spanish printmaker and painter Francisco Goya and are also inclusive of Surrealist flourishes and themes.

Framed handsomely in an original Kulicke welded aluminum frame with the embossed maker's mark. [Milton 61].
Milton revisited this image in 1974 during an experiment to explore collage and the process of contact printing a high resolution photo-transparency directly onto a copper plate.
