Louis-René Berge
Louis-René Berge was a French engraver, member of the Academy of Fine Arts. Self-taught, he began to engrave in 1960 and his first works were noticed by Jacques Villon and Pierre Guastalla. He devoted himself definitively to engraving with a chisel around 1975 and then exhibited in salons (Salon d'Automne, Salon des Réalités Nouvelles, etc.), at Biren and Michèle Broutta galleries, and participated in the activities of engraving companies. In 2005, Berge was elected to the Academy of Fine Arts in the chair engraving section number III. Defender of the art of printmaking — in particular at the Academy, Berge was a co-founder in 2004 of Manifestampe, an association seeking to federate the various companies interested in the subject.
