Untitled - Original Etching by Cesare Peverelli - 1973
Located in Roma, IT
Image dimensions: 23.7 x 17.7 cm Senza Titolo is an original black and white etching on paper, realized by the Italian artist Cesare Peverelli (Milan, 1922-Paris, 2000) and printed in 1973 by La Nuova Foglio, a publishing house of Macerata, as the dry-stamp reports on the lower right corner. Hand-signed and numbered in pencil and in Arabic numerals on lower margin. From an edition of 100 prints. This is an instinctive composition showing a very rapid line and remembering the Surrealist lesson of the automatic written. Cesare Peverelli (Milan, 1922 - Paris, 2000) Cesare Peverelli began his artistic career in 1939 when he attended the Brera Academy of Fine Arts and was a pupil of Achille Funi and Carlo Carrà. Through Ennio Morlotti he came into contact with the Corrente group, preferring however to the chromatic lighting of the neo-cubism the tonalism of Giorgio Morandi. He tied himself to the Argine Numero magazine and was in 1946 among the signatories of the Oltre Guernica poster. In 1947, at the Italian art exhibition today. Turin Prize, he won the Grosso Award, met Cesare Pavese and began to collaborate with the Einaudi publishing house, and produced the cover of La nausea by Jean Paul Sartre (1948). In search of an engagé painting not dominated by ideologies, he was one of the founders in 1946 of the Numero Pittura magazine and with Roberto Crippa he opened the Painting gallery, where in 1949 he held a solo show accompanied by a poem by Aimé Césaire...

Hand-signed and numbered in pencil and in Arabic numerals on lower margin. From an edition of 100 prints. This is really beautiful artwork, on halfway between Surrealism and the Informal, two types of research practiced by the artist, obtaining excellent and charming results. in excellent conditions. Past Light, by Rosalyn Richards
Located in Palm Springs, CA
Signed, titled and numbered in pencil by the artist. Image size: 8 x 6.5 inches Rosalyn Richards has been a member of the Bucknell University art faculty since 1982. Images from particle physics, satellite photography, biotechnology, radiology, geological survey maps, have all served as influences on Richards' work. Her paintings, prints, and drawings relate to the human need to construct our experiences in nature using systems of design and technology. The maps become metaphors for inner journeys, and are also meant to suggest playful and whimsical approaches to the usually serious function of diagrams. She has had solo shows throughout the United States, and her work is represented in museum collections such as: MUSEUM COLLECTIONS: Chicago Art Institute Mineapolis Institute of the Arts University of Minnesota Yale University Art Gallery Grunwald Center...

"CYCLOPS", print, hand-tooled aluminum intaglio, abstract, monotype, framed
Located in Toronto, Ontario
CYCLOPS is a hand-tooled aluminum intaglio print on Rives BFK 250g paper with deckle edge. It is a framed monotype in black matte wood with spacers under glass to maintain the deckle edge of paper. The print floats on museum board using archival Hayaku Japanese Hinging Paper. Like Wortsman's sculptures, the abstract components here seem to possess both organic and geometric forms. Note the four corners of black, bracing the center serpentine shape of copper and black speckled white – it is characteristic of Wortsman's practice. Warm, contemporary, uniquely crafted, yet speaks to ancient, tribal traditions of art-making that cross cultures and histories. Highly attuned to the indigenous art of Africa, the Middle East, India and Asia, his forms are organic and geometric abstracts with masculine and feminine attributes that resonate together as a pleasing enigma. They make sense immediately, yet never give up all their secrets. CYCLOPS was exhibited at Harold Wortsman...

Tessuto Veneziano (c-5/10) contemporary bstract etching and chine colle print
Located in New York, NY
Printmaker Ann Aspinwall made this etching in 1999, while living in Venice. During those years she did several etchings that adhered to a certain principle. She drew a freehand line, as straight as possible; and beneath that line drew another, following as closely as possible the one above. Each successive line followed the line directly above, imitating all the curves and shakes. These imperfections, or deviations from the original line, became more and more prominent, each line being an interpretation of what came before it. Around that time, Aspinwall discovered the writing of John Dewey on the subject of rhythm in his Art as Experience (1934): Rhythm, writes Dewey, is an “ordered variation of changes.” There is no rhythm “when there is a uniformly even flow, with no variations of intensity or speed,” when “variations of pulse and rest do not occur.” “Variations of intensity are relative to the subject matter directly experienced. Each beat, in differentiating a part within the whole, adds to the force of what went before while creating a suspense that is a demand for something to come. It is not a variation in a single feature but a modulation of the entire pervasive and unifying qualitative substratum.” Ten years later Aspinwall returned to this plate. Looking at it again after a long time she perceived the strong influence of Venice; the texture calls to mind water and fabric. The artist was unable to decide on one color for an edition, so after printing many color proofs, she chose ten combinations of colored lines on colored Japanese papers. The prints evoke the light and surfaces of Venice. The title of the series, Tessuto Veneziano, means Venetian textile...
