Lithograph, 1995 Handsigned by the artist in pencil and numbered 16/250 Publisher : Editions de la Différence Printer : Arti Grafiche Motta, Arese 76.00 cm. x 56.00 cm. 29.92 in. x 22.05 in. (paper) 76.00 cm. x 56.00 cm. 29.92 in. x 22.05 in. (image) From the "Méchant-Méchant" album On Arches Paper A self-taught, multidisciplinary artist, Niki de Saint-Phalle creates a world recognizable at first glance. She is best known for her Nanas, monumental sculptures of disproportionately shaped women, which she designed to be displayed in public spaces for all to see. The artist attaches great importance to the beneficial potential of art, which takes on an almost therapeutic dimension for her: "My passion is to bring some moments of joy to others through my art". In this lithograph, the artist addresses the children. She uses one of the illustrations created the same year for the book "Méchant Méchant", in collaboration with the author Laurent Condominas. It is a story about triumphant friendship, where children help each other to recover their toys stolen by a monster. By its graphic form and its colors, we can easily approach its style of art made by children, which reinforces the impact it can have with them. In this scene of everyday life, teachers, children and a police officer rub shoulders with animals and plants in an abundance of globular shapes and acidic colors typical of the artist's work. The movement of the characters and the richness of detail make this work a true recreation for the mind. Certificate of authenticity LCD6902
