About the Item
Patty deGrandpre’s “Leave the Flowers by the Back Door” is a 16 x 13 inch mixed media unique print represented on 19 x 16 inch Awagami Bamboo paper embracing both traditional printmaking techniques, digital inkjet printing, and collage. A deconstructed sky in tones of green and grey is placed above the delicate layers of black and blue flowers which occupy the bottom half of this abstract landscape. The focal point of this contemporary work is a green house that is inkjet printed on brown Kraft paper facing that was removed from a corrugated delivery box and collaged onto the center of the composition. The digits identifying the package order number remain on the the Kraft paper and provide a graphic element which is incorporated within the contrasting house. Seamlessly integrating fragments of pictorial imagery, colorless shapes, and negative space create the ideal ethereal backdrop for the addition of collage. Skillfully uniting the recognizable with the abstract, deGrandpre uses photographs and imagery that she digital deconstructs and manipulates. Her extensive catalog of digital images becomes the catalyst of her art making. Her inkjet printer becomes her press as she combines digital image transfer with traditional monoprinting techniques. Patty deGrandpre’s contemporary works have a powerful effect as there are multiple directions the eyes of a viewer can be taken, whether it’s right vs. left or top vs. bottom. This unique modern landscape is signed and dated on the bottom right corner. This one of a kind piece will ship at in a protective sleeve ready for the frame of your choice.
