‘Accent on rose’ was produced by Wassily Kandinsky in 1926 whilst he was working at a rapid pace and teaching at the German art school Bauhaus. During this period Kandinsky progressed towards more geometric abstraction and a well-planned composition. Kandinsky also drew upon the idea of constructivism which was emerging in Russia between artists such as Vladimir Tatlin who believed that art should directly reflect the modern industrial world. Although the placement of each constructivist shape seems random, Kandinsky would have meticulously organised the space
