About the Item

Esto sí que es leer is an original etching realized by the great Spanish artist Francisco Goya and published for the first time in 1799. Etching on wove paper. The plate is part of the Third Edition of "Los Caprichos" that has been published in 1868 by the Calcografia Nacional of Madrid for the Real Academia. The full edition includes 80 etchings. Plate number 29. Titled on the lower margin "Esto sí que es leer" (This is what to read is). Mint conditions. The old rich man, who does not even want to dress or embellish himself, even though his laziness and lack of interest keep him with his eyes closed: he does not need to lear at all even has a book in the hands.
