The etching is part of the Third Edition of "Los Caprichos" published in 1868 by the Calcografia Nacional for the Real Academia of Madrid. The Edition includes 80 original plates. Plate N. 18. Numbered on the upper right corner. Titled on the lower central margin "Y se le quema la casa" (And he burns his house).
Mint conditions.
The expression of the lazy, disheveled and incapable person, perhaps drunk, shows his absence of the true life and an unconsciousness that does not notice the most serious dangers. The plate indeed represents a man and a chair in flames on the right side.

Francisco Goya
Francisco José de Goya y Lucientes (1746-1828) was a Spanish romantic painter and printmaker. He is considered the most important Spanish artist of the late 18th and early 19th centuries. His works often contained a social message, like in his "Disasters of War" series. Immensely successful in his lifetime, Goya is often referred to as both the last of the Old Masters and the first of the moderns. He was also one of the great portraitists of his time.
