In perfetto stato di conservazione con piega editoriale e margini intonsi. Al verso: Le pas du patineur: ‘Le Lancé’ et ‘Le Retenu’. Silografie originali a colori, monogrammate in lastra. Bibliografia: C. Duthuit, 721/722. (mm. 205x147) e (mm. 198x151). Henri Matisse realizzò La Danse nel 1910, su commissione di Sergej Shchukin: un capolavoro monumentale che celebra il movimento, la gioia primitiva e la forza del colore. Le cinque figure nude, in cerchio, danzano su un prato verde acceso sotto un cielo blu intenso, incarnando l’essenza della visione fauve. Quasi trent’anni dopo, nel 1938, l’editore Tériade invitò Matisse a reinterpretare quell’opera per la rivista Verve. L’artista realizzò così una litografia a colori che riprende la stessa composizione, ma la rilegge con uno stile più essenziale e grafico. Le figure, ancora in cerchio, si stagliano su campiture piatte e contrastate, in un equilibrio che anticipa i suoi celebri découpage. Sul verso del foglio compaiono due xilografie originali, a sottolineare l’interesse di Matisse per il dialogo tra tecniche diverse. La litografia del ’38 è una citazione consapevole, una riflessione su un tema che l’artista sentiva ancora vivo, tradotto in un linguaggio più maturo, più sintetico, ma altrettanto vibrante.
