About the artist:
Painting in bold colors society scenes, Isaac Maimon was born in Israel in 1951 to French-speaking parents, and in his artwork, he shows much influence of the "boulevard culture" of French society and the Paris school of art including the paintings of Toulouse Lautrec.
Maimon did military service and then studied at the Avni Institute of Fine Art in Tel Aviv where he was exposed to the Paris school. In 1980, he began a teaching career, starting at the School of Visual Arts in Beer-Sheba and later at the Kaye Art Academy. By the late 1980s, he was a Professor of Art at Ben-Gurion University in Beer-Sheba.
During this time, he learned about coffee house management and bought a pub and ran a restaurant. Often, while observing his customers, he would take time to do sketching of their activities, and then from these preliminary sketches would create paintings.
His work was 'discovered' in 1989 by Talking Walls, an art publishing group in Israel, and they sponsored exhibitions for him in Israel and in New York at an International Art Exposition. From that time, he has had regular touring one-man exhibitions in America. He also has made a publishing house and distribution alliance with B & R International Art. The work of Isaac Maimon is held in public and private collections worldwide.

Isaac Maimon
Isaac Maimon Israeli Artist: b. 1951. Women meeting in somewhat hazy coffee houses. Colors that are bold and bright. The essence of a true urban scene, daytime life and night life intermingle. It is a warm, gentle and inviting atmosphere. The air is full of promises and secrets just like any self-respecting bistro. This is Isaac Maimon's world, the scene that he paints with consuming passion. Maimon's paintings capture the "boulevard culture," that uniquely French atmosphere that so intrigued Lautrec, Bonnard and other artists before him. Though strongly influenced by the Paris school of art, with Isaac Maimon's intrepid use of color and line he creates works that are absorbing, rich and uniquely Maimon. Maimon was published by B and R International. Maimon's works are in many private and public collections. Maimon is truly one of the leaders of the Cafe movement.
