Trichromatic Flower-piece, Richard Hamilton multi color flower still life
Located in New York, NY
According to Gesine Tosin, Richard Hamilton irritated contemporary critics in the 1970s with a series of works -- romantic images of flowers, still lifes and landscapes, interspersed with scatological motifs. "Once exhibited, the critics regarded the paintings as evidence either of a kinky sexual aberration or an early onset of senility." Perversely he set out to produce by manual means an etching with the characteristics of a commercially made reproduction resulting in Trichromatic flower-piece.” In addition to the edition of Trichromatic Flower-piece, Hamilton printed...

'La Dame à la Huppe' from 'Passion' original color aquatint by Georges Rouault
Located in Milwaukee, WI
'La Dame à la Huppe (Woman in a Headdress)' is an original color aquatint from George Rouault's series of prints for 'Passion.' 'Passion,' a book written by Rouault's close friend André Suarès and published in 1939 by Rouault's associate Ambroise Vollard, contained seventeen color etchings and eighty-two wood engravings by the artist. This print shows a woman in profile in luxurious clothing, recalling the profile portraits of the Renaissance in Europe – but rendered completely in Rouault's quintessential expressionist style. The prints from this series are somewhat ambiguous and were not so much meant to illustrate the text as they were to augment it. color aquatint on wove paper from the edition of 270 12.38 x 8.5 inches, plate 17.5 x 13.25 inches, sheet 23.25 x 19.25 inches, frame published by Ambroise Vollard and printed by Lacourière Refernces: Chapon/Rouault 269; Wofsy 349 Artwork in overall good and stable condition; colors are bright and unfaded; minor toning to paper from previous matting, hidden by current matting.
