About the Item
Roberto Sebastian Matta-Clark was a 20th-century painter, printmaker and architect. Father of renowned architect Gordon Matta-Clark, Sebastian was a major player in Surrealism and paved the way for American Abstract Expressionism through his work.
His works explore visionary worlds and inner landscapes that draw on the human psyche and unconscious. It uses strong, contrasting tones to amplify the sense of mystery, creating visual tension.
The lithographs presented reproduce his imagination and his reflections on the subconscious mind. Inside an original folder, there are 5 lithographs made in 1976 measuring 50x70 cm, printed on arches paper for "Edizioni della Pergola." Out of 75 runs, those presented are specimen No. 44. They all have signatures in the lower right and circulation numbering in the lower left.
The state of preservation is good.
