Sylvia Mayzer Rantz, 'Ninth Inning', lithograph, 1949, edition 24. Signed, dated, titled, and numbered '9/24' in pencil. A fine, richly-inked impression, on cream wove paper. The full sheet with margins (1 1/8 to 2 1/8 inches); glue stains from original hinges in the top left and right sheet edges, well away from the image, otherwise in very good condition. Matted to museum standards, unframed.
Rantz's vigorously playful image depicts the diverse spectators at one of the decisive moments of a baseball game—mid-century America's favorite sport.
