The first view of Chiaia da Ponente, dedicated to the English General Louis of Walmoden, with 30 topographical references, refers to the area of the shoreline with the large fountain in the foreground, with the picture of the view relating to a vantage point located roughly halfway along the entire shoreline, not far from the old palace of Marquis Della Valle Mendoza (provided with a strong tower protruding from the facade and clearly visible in the background to the right). The background is the hill of Posillipo.
