About the Item

This framed reproduction of Claude Monet's immensely popular painting, “The Bridge Over The Seine Near Argenteuil,” comes with a certificate of authenticity on the back and is numbered 1102, making it interesting for several reasons. The artagraphic process used to produce this work in a limited edition of 2900 is considered the state-of-the-art in art reproduction and the most respectful approach to reproducing a painting by a master. In three steps, this technique creates a 3D replica of an original oil painting's color and surface texture. Colors are scanned with a digital laser and then printed separately using oil-based inks on a single sheet. A mold is created from the original painting to reproduce its surface texture and bas-relief brushstrokes. Unlike lithographs and serigraphs, there is a palpable material and relief if you run your fingers over the surface. At the Impressionist group's first exhibition in 1874, Claude Monet demonstrated his deep interest in the motif by working on seven depictions of the Argenteuil bridge and four of the railroad bridge upstream. The artwork depicts Monet's immediate impressions of the scene rather than offering detailed realism. In these series, moored sailboats occupy the foreground, while the fluidity of the river melts harmoniously with the geometrically contrasted presence of the bridge and its imposing pillars. Monet manipulates his palette and complementary color schemes to create the illusion of light and movement through small, separate, and visible brushstrokes, making it one of the artist's most recognizable signatures. The painting displays a diversity of styles, with some elements more solid, having strong and distinct lines and structured forms defined by firm contours, while the water and the sky in the background give off an impression of moving space, floating, and ripples. An original painting of the series can be seen at Musée d'Orsay in Paris, France. Claude Monet, born in 1840, is a French painter known for being a leading figure of the Impressionist art movement. He was a painter of color and open air, an artist outside of academic teaching, and at the beginning of the 20th century, his name triumphed in modern art history. American abstract expressionists consider Monet as one of the precursors of abstraction.

"Parisian Bridge by the Eiffel Tower" Landscape Lithograph by Bernard Buffet
By Bernard Buffet
Located in Pasadena, CA
When we mention Bernard Buffet, we instinctively think of his tortured portraits and dark representations of human emotions. However, his work presents a much richer and more complex dimension, such as this less conventional canvas, which, instead of focusing on characters, captures a Parisian scene in a landscape format. In this work, a view of the Seine and the sky, a fragment of the Eiffel Tower blending into a green that seems largely fantasized, a bridge and a total absence of human figures launch the viewer into a visual meditation of the secrets that reside at the heart of the City of Lights. The artist uses black not simply as a color but as a proper tool for sculpting. Shapes are drawn and delineated, contrasting with washed-out colors such as blue and green. Black symbolizes the mystery and inaccessibility of the emotions that the artist seeks to express. Unlike his other works, adding characters to tell a story, Buffet, with this piece, appears more interested in the elements and structural aspects of the composition itself. Buffet succeeds in establishing a link between the observer and the piece represented. The Eiffel Tower and the bridge become the keepers of secrets, frameworks that bear the weight of Paris's history. The river mirrors...

"Pont De La Concorde" Post-Impressionist Oil Painting Across the Seine in Paris
By Lucien Adrion
Located in New York, NY
This work by Lucien Adrion is a wonderful representation of his impressionistic works depicting the "Pont De La Concorde" bridge across the Seine in Paris with the Eiffel tower in the distance. Using a bright palette of colors, Adrion executes this piece with much attention to detail with figures and cars over the bridge and a man leaning against the edge overlooking the bright water and reflections. There is a boat lower right and we can feel the warmth of the sun contrasted with the cool breeze of the water. The figures are wonderfully executed by the artist in a very whimsical way that leaves us with an essence of fun and enjoyment from that sunny day at the Seine. As this tourist destination was a favorite of the artist to find inspiration and highly attractive subjects and compositions to represent. The piece is signed by the artist lower right and titled on verso, it comes housed in a French giltwood frame with hanging wire on verso ready to be displayed. Art measures 20 x 29 inches Frame measures 25.5 x 34.5 inches Lucien Adrion was born May 25, 1889 in Strasbourg, France. He was a French Post-Impressionist painter, draftsman, and printmaker known for his depictions of the French countryside and beaches, as well as Parisian life including landscape, still life, figure, and landmarks paintings. He began his initial studies in Strasbourg as a technical draughtsman. In 1907, at the age of 18, he left his hometown Strasbourg and traveled to Paris, where he found employment in a large drafting company to work as a fashion illustrator. Adrion changed his mind upon arrival and rather than working for a large company, he decided to peruse his artistic career by traveling to London, Munich, and Frankfurt. As the World War broke out he had to go to Berlin, where he studied as an engraver with Hermann Struck, who was also the teacher of Marc Chagall. He remained in Berlin until the war ended and after the demobilization, Lucien would study engraving under Franz Ritter von Struck...
