Montana. She studied at the Banff Centre School of Fine Arts in Alberta,
Canada; the University of Puget Sound; and the University of Michigan.
Theban Archeaopteryx Lithographica was printed at the Plucked Chicken
Press in Evanston, Illinois.
“The stone is the shape of the Rosetta Stone, unlocking language, [a]
key to the past,” says Tripp. “Wouldn’t it be wonderful if you came across
a stone, chipped at it, and revealed layer upon layer of visual history,
images from sophisticated Egypt back to Paleozoic trilobites?
“Lithography stones, quarried from the Jura Mountains of Bavaria,
reach us from the Jurassic period of the Mesozoic, bearing fossils of the
first birds. The bird fossil looked like it was doing an Egyptian dance, and
that reminded me of the wall paintings of the House of Eternity in Thebes.
‘Paint the walls brightly, cheerfully, so that our souls will take the form of
birds and fly,’ said Sennefer, the mayor of Thebes, in the tomb of his
wife Meryet.
“Fossils and archeological evidence provide proof that others existed
before us, and allow us to see their thoughts. The past is with us. Like
Archaeopteryx, Sennefer and Meryet still fly through eternity, though
frozen in stone. Above them is the protective eye of Horus. Trilobites
represent a breathtaking explosion of Cambrian life forms. Between Archaeopteryx and Egypt, I wanted mammals.
Petroglyphs. Human marks. Because my right hand is the trained hand, I drew with my left, childlike. And
I drew with a stick, dipped in asphaltum, and a ratty old brush...

Her paintings and prints propel the viewer into a claustrophobic and unstable world through a perspective that shimmies between representation and abstraction. Her works reference idealistic visions of the sublime, while the medley of imagery presented eliminates the need to identify the actual places – these works do not seek to portray a specific view or experience. From our research, it has been almost a decade since the last copy of this poster was available.
Rare Rene Vincent automobile poster. Black and white posters are a rarity as far as vintage posters are concerned. The original idea was to catch the attention of passersby in every possible way. Color was an essential tool in advertising when posters were an essential source for name-brand recognition. The absence of color gives these auto posters a touch of class. They can also be compared to old photographs. Either way, you're looking at something special.
This one is incredibly cool since it came from the talented artist Rene Vincent. If his name doesn't ring a bell, his poster "Porto Ramos" probably will if you look it up on our site. You will find that he also created automobile posters as early as 1905, which are all extremely rare and hard to find. Don’t let this excellent-condition vintage poster pass you by.
Vincent only got to devote a little time to posters once he was in his forties, after working for many years in various publications--mainly humor and fashion magazines--and in decorative design. However, once he made the switch, he produced prolifically posters, even using additional pseudonyms. He preferred sleek automotive posters...
