About the Item

Pablo Picasso (1881-1973) - Jacqueline with Fruits Phototype and pochoir from 1962. From the edition of 1,000 copies, this example is number 334, as noted in the colophon. Dimensions of sheet: 40 x 30 cm Dimensions in frame: 53.2 x 43.2 cm Publisher: Editions Berggruen, Paris. Printer: Daniel Jacomet, Paris. -- This work is part of Diurnes (""Daytime""), a remarkable portfolio born from the creative friendship between Pablo Picasso and photographer André Villers. The image began as a photogram—a camera-less photograph made by Villers by placing everyday objects like leaves, feathers, and lace onto photosensitive paper. Picasso later intervened, transforming these abstract shadows with cut-outs and stencil-applied colors, giving them form, rhythm, and symbolic life. Each composition in Diurnes is a poetic encounter between light and imagination, between the mechanical precision of photography and the impulsive gestures of Picasso. Though untitled, the forms evoke whimsical figures—part-animal, part-human, or dreamlike hybrids—suggesting a theater of sunlit silhouettes, caught between nature and invention. The portfolio was printed on the presses of Imprimerie Union and the phototypes were crafted in the ateliers of Daniel Jacomet, a renowned printer who worked with Matisse, Braque, and other modern masters. Published in 1962 by Lionel Prejger, Diurnes exemplifies the spirit of artistic dialogue, where the boundaries between media dissolve and a shared creative vision takes form. The number printed on the verso of each plate corresponds to its position in the portfolio sequence. Reference: Cramer 115 The work is in Excellent condition. Fast and secure shipment.
