This artwork titled "Bosch" c. 1980 is an original etching with aquatint by American artist Peter Paone, b.1936. It is hand signed, titled and numbered 10/25 in pencil by the artist. The Image (plate mark) size is 19.5 x 15.75, framed size is 35.5 x 29.75 inches. Custom framed in a antique gold and black frame, with blue velvet liner and gold color bevel. The artwork and frame are in excellent condition, the blue velvet liner has some light scratches and discoloration, see picture #1 About the artist: PETER PAONE was born in Philadelphia and educated at the Philadelphia College of Art. He has taught at Pratt Institute in New York, The National Academy of Design in New York and since 1978 The Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts in Philadelphia. The artist has received a number of grants and awards such as two Louis Comfort Tiffany Foundation Grants, a Pennsylvania Council for the Arts Grant, A Mid- Atlantic Foundation grant, the first Print Club Award of Merit, The 172nd Annual Painting Prize from The National Academy of Design and three years in London on a Guggenheim Foundation Fellowship. His work has been featured in fifty two one person exhibitions in New York, Houston, Fort Worth, Philadelphia, as well as in London, Vienna and Germany. Since 1960, his work has joined that of other artists in sixty national and international group exhibitions. A selected list of public collections in which paintings, drawings and prints are represented include The Museum of Modern Art, in New York, The Victoria and Albert Museum and The British Museum, in London England, The National Gallery of Art and the Library of Congress, in Washington, DC, The Philadelphia Museum of Art, The Art Institute of Chicago, The National Academy of Design, Yale University Art Gallery, The Jersey City Museum, The Arkansas Art Center, The Woodmere Art Museum and The National Portrait Gallery. He has been affiliated with the exhibitions committee of the National Academy of Design, the Visual Arts panel of The Pennsylvania Council for the Arts and is a board member of the Appraisers of Fine Arts Society and a member of The National Academy of Design. His most recent one person museum exhibitions include, “Poets” in conjunction with his photography collection “ The Artist Revealed” at the National Academy of Design, “The Italians” at The Jersey City Museum, “Imaginary Watercolors” at the James A. Michener Museum, “Creative Wellsprings” List Gallery - Swarthmore College in 2009, and “Wild Flowers” at the Woodmere Art Museum in 2013. This artwork titled "J.B" c.1970 is a lithograph on paper by noted American artist Charles Bragg, 1931-2017. It is signed and titled in the plate as issue. The image (Stone mark) size is 5 x 8 inches, framed is 15.35 x 12 inches. It is custom framed in a wooden brown frame, with off white matting. It is in very good condition, paper is slightly toned by age. About the artist. Charles Bragg was born in St. Louis, Missouri to two Vaudeville performing parents that he traveled with throughout his childhood. He attended New York’s High School of Music and Art in Harlem and ran away with his sweetheart when he turned 18. He studied at the Art Students League in New York and later resided in Los Angeles. Before he decided to truly pursue painting, Bragg was a cab driver, a truck driver, a stand-up comedian, and a factory worker. When he arrived in California, he began painting for the wealthy and even gave lessons. It was during this time that he began to develop satirical feelings for the upper-class he was painting. Considered the foremost social satire artist in America, Charles Bragg is highly acclaimed for his cryptic and humorous portraits.
