I grew up in Oxford and originally trained as a textile designer. Now I live in Didcot with my husband and two children and divide my time between painting, printmaking and silver-smithing. My textile designs have been exhibited and sold at trade fairs in Frankfurt and New York and to major retailers in the UK. I have regularly exhibited my paintings and etchings in local exhibitions, at Oxford’s Natural History Museum, Oxford Town Hall, the O3 gallery, and I have a selection of work available online. I love painting seascapes, still-lifes and flowers. In 2010 I won The People's Choice Award for my painting of the Didcot Towers called I'll miss us when we're gone! Following that success I began to paint local landscapes. Wittenham Clumps has proved to be a real favourite. In 2016 I decided to do an introductory etching course at the Oxford Printmakers, to help develop my printmaking skills. I absolutely loved it and joined OPC soon after. It is such a pleasure to be involved with this amazing group of creative people. 2018 was a big year for me. I exhibited with Oxford Printmakers at their 40th anniversary exhibition and at three Oxfordshire Artweeks exhibitions. I won my second People’s Choice Award at the Chester Arts Fair, my work was also accepted at the Chelsea Art Society open exhibition and some of my work was published in The Oxford Art Book. Since then I have exhibited twice at the Affordable Art Fair, and been accepted to a number of open exhibitions at The Mall Galleries in London with the Royal Society of Marine Artists and Society of Botanical Artists."

Delft Agapanthus (cyanotype painting framed to 35 x 28")
Located in Oakland, CA
This unique multistep technique is a combination of a painting and a photograph or monotype. Cyanotypes are a kind of alternative photographic process from the 1800s. The chemicals are different from those used in black and white photography. The light-sensitive chemicals can be used to print blue and white photographs from a large negative or a person can capture the silhouette of solid objects rather like an x-ray in blue and white. In her Delft Garden series, artist Christine So first drew the outline of a plant in pencil and then painted it in a dark room —not paint– but with the cyanotype light-sensitive emulsion. When the painting had dried, she arranged plants on top of the painted silhouette in a pattern that would leave gaps like lace, carefully moved the entire bundle outside while still covered and then exposed the pattern multiple times at different angles to the sun, to achieve various shades of blue and white. The heavy cotton watercolor paper then needed to be thoroughly rinsed in order to stop the darkening process. The silhouette here is of the Giant California Tree...
