This elegant vintage poster was published to promote and raise funds for Christo's famous The Pont Neuf Wrapped Project in the mid 1980s. From the estate of Jacob and Aviva Bal Teshuva - authors of books on Christo, collectors, philanthropists and friends of the artist.

ABOUT THE PONT NEUF WRAPPED PROJECT:
On September 22, 1985, a group of 300 professional workers completed the temporary work of art The Pont Neuf Wrapped. They had deployed 450,000 square feet (41,800 square meters) of woven polyamide fabric, silky in appearance and golden sandstone in color, covering:
The sides and vaults of the twelve arches, without hindering river traffic.
The parapets down to the ground.
The sidewalks and curbs (pedestrians walked on the fabric).
All the street lamps on both sides of the bridge.
The vertical part of the embankment of the western tip of the Île de la Cité.
The Esplanade of the Vert-Galant.
The fabric was restrained by 8 miles (13 kilometers) of rope and secured by 12.1 tons of steel chains encircling the base of each tower, 3.3 feet (1 meter) underwater.
The Charpentiers de Paris headed by Gérard Moulin, with French sub-contractors, were assisted by the USA engineers who had worked on Christo and Jeanne-Claude's previous projects, under the direction of Theodore Dougherty: Vahé Aprahamian, August L. Huber, James Fuller, John Thomson and Dimiter Zagoroff. Johannes Schaub, the project's director had submitted the work method and detailed plans and received approval for the project from the authorities of the City of Paris, the Department of the Seine and the State. 600 monitors, in crews of 40, led by Simon Chaput...

The plate mark (image) size is 17.25 x 23 inches, framed size is 28.75 x 33 inches. Custom framed in a wooden gold and silver distressed frame, with fabric matting and dark grey color small fillets. It is in very good condition, the paper is slightly toned by age, it have a small discoloration near the signature, see picture #7
About the artist.
Luigi Kasimir was born in 1881 at Pettau, today Ptuj, Slovenia, then a part of the Austro-Hungarian monarchy. He inherited his talent from his ancestors; his grandfather was a painter and a poet, and his father an officer in the Habsburg army, who later became a professional painter. Kasimir attended the Vienna Academy of Art where he studied under Wilhelm Unger, who introduced him to the technique of the coloured etching, and also to his future wife, the artist Tanna Hoernes.[1] He died in 1962 in Grinzing, a suburb of Vienna.Kasimir was among the first to develop the technique of the coloured etching. Before this, prints were usually hand-coloured with the colour being applied in a casual, haphazard manner. Kasimir would first create a sketch usually in pastel, he then transferred the design on as many as four to six plates, printing one after the other and applying the colour on the plate, all done by hand.
Kasimir is mainly famous for his etchings, but he also produced some oil painting, as well as some pastels. One of his favourite genres was the landscape, or veduta. He demonstrated a predisposition street scenes, and tourist landmarks. He depicted places from all over Europe, mainly Italy, Austria, and Germany. He also travelled to the United States to do a series of etchings of famous sights ranging from urban landmarks such as New York City skyscrapers, to natural wonders like Yosemite Valley. While aboard an Irish ferry bound for Cork, a window reveals swirling waves beneath the horizon. The rocking of the ferry fills and empties the frame with a hypnotic dance of the sea. Cawston expertly times the shot, capturing a window predominantly filled with the sea, only a slender glow peeking through. The two chairs, positioned in almost mirror symmetry, face opposite directions, also add to the story. They journey together on the ferry traversing predetermined locations across a geographical boundary.
A metaphor perhaps, about connection of two worlds separated by distance. Challenging as a situation and journey may be, there is a beacon of hope on the horizon...

Etching with engraving on cream laid paper with a Garden of Holland or Maid of Dort Pro Patria watermark, 11 x 14 1/4 inches (278 x 361 mm), thread margins. Lettered with the title in a cartouche at the top-center sheet, continuing "a Latere Occidentali Prospeus AD MDCCXXXIX," with numbers over the image at right that correspond to a key 1 to 29, and with publication details: "Georgius Vertue Londini delineavit et Sculpsit anno MDCCXXXIX". Multiple expert repairs, notably a Y-shaped, expert paper tape repair on the verso. Handling creases, toning. All issues are consistent with age. An impression of this work may be viewed in the permanent collection of the British Museum, registration No. 1880,1113.3963.
