About the Item

A splendid, historic poster! It was 1939 when this poster was made. All the major British soldiers had gone abroad to fight, and there were no soldiers left to defend the country. So the country called on all those too old for the army and teenagers aged 14 and over to join the home front. The Home Service Battalions were a force of the British Army during the First and Second World Wars, intended for national defense and other tasks. Those who joined these battalions were exempt from service outside the UK. War - United Kingdom - 39-45 Men 41-55 Let them all come Lowe & Brydon - London
