Jacque Duval Brasseur is a noted French sculptor and decorative arts furniture designer. His handmade pieces are inspired by nature and fantasy and he manages to combine different materials, such as stone, glass, iron and bronze, bringing to life figurative and abstract sculptures.
Jacques Duval-Brasseur was a noted French sculptor and designer who incorporated precious and exotic materials into his handcrafted pieces.
The work of Jacques Duval-Brasseur is influenced by an exclusive and refined taste. His representation of elegant animals, mythological birds and trees’ leaves lead to extraordinary works of design. Part of a distinguished group of Italian, Belgian and French European 1970s artists and craftsmen which includes, Salvino Marsura, Jacques Lerebourg, Enzo Missoni, Roger Desserprit, Jean Frédéric Bourdier, Alain Chervet, Roy Adzak, Pucci De Rossi, Robert and Jean Cloutier, Henri Fernandez and Pierre Cardin, whose 70s work has been experiencing a rediscovery by a new generation of collectors. They are also associated with Brutalism and brutalist architecture and design.
In the 1950s, Duval-Brasseur began to concentrate on sculpture and soon gained international recognition for his abstract works in metal. His sculptures have been exhibited in numerous galleries and museums in France and abroad, including the Musée d'Art Moderne de la Ville de Paris, the New York City Museum of Modern Art and the Maeght Gallery in Paris.
He has also created several works of public art, including the sculpture "La Victoire" installed in front of the entrance to the headquarters of the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) in Paris.
Jacques Duval-Brasseur has received numerous awards for his work, including the Grand Prix national de sculpture in 1980 and the Fondation Simone et Cino Del Duca prize in 1990. His career as a sculptor spans more than six decades, and he is considered one of the most important artists of geometric abstraction in France. French designer and sculptor inspired by nature and organic forms. Combining different precious and exotic materials into his pieces, materials such as geode stone, iron, steel and bronze, building figurative or abstract sculpture.
His very chic creations carry a soul, all his pieces are either elegant animals, fantastic birds or abstract formes mixed together with amethyst, quartz, and other semi precious stones.
