About the Item
Nicholas Cosmo has created a group of related sculptural figures known as the 6061 Collective.
The figures constituting the Collective were originally envisioned by Nicholas as members of a theatrical ensemble each taking on the role of a distinctive character.
The visual unity of the figures in the Collective is achieved by the basics of their form. Each figure is composed of a fixed number of component aluminum plates; 8 vertical plates and 3 horizontal plates. The 11 plates are always arranged in the same physical relationship. The total of 8 vertical plates act to hold the 3 horizontal plates in their relative positions and are permanently fastened with appropriate hardware. The number 6061 in the name of the Collective is a reference to the alloy of aluminum from which the plates are formed.
The equipment and methods used by Nicholas in sculpting the figures of the Collective are not those found in the more traditional atelier. However, this does not contradict the personalities of each of the figures of the 6061 Collective.

By James Havard
Located in Southampton, NY
In order to make room at the gallery for new work coming in August for the Summer Season here in the Hamptons, certain work is offered at a substantial price reduction. This is one of those works. Originally priced at $8000, we are now offering it at only $3950.
James Havard is considered one of the "pioneers of the abstract illusionism movement" One of James Havard's homes and studio's was on the island of Tortola and this work from 1979 evokes the feel of the aqua blue waters and the reference of Salt Island in the painting refers to the salty feel of the ocean waters.
In the 1970's Havard was the principle artist that started working in an abstract style that included gestural brush strokes and paint squeezed directly from the tube to create beautiful surface textures in his paintings. He then painted shadows to certain areas of paint to create the 3d illusion of depth to his paintings. This created the "Abstract Illusion" movement of the 1970's. Havard had many museum exhibitions and his paintings were sort after and exhibited at galleries around the world. Havard along with other artists like, Michael Gallagher, George Green...

His work is said to convey a "visual link between street life and established society". and in 1980, Crash curated the now iconic exhibition: "Graffiti Art Success for America" at Fashion MODA, launching the graffiti movement into a mainstream art movement.
In 1983, Crash was given his first major gallery showing at the legendary Sidney Janis Gallery in New York City.
