Cell is a unique ceramic sculpture by contemporary artist Tien Wen, dimensions are 33 × 26 × 17 cm (13 × 10.2 × 6.7 in).
The sculpture is signed and comes with a certificate of authenticity.
This abstract and minimalist artwork first appeals by the simplicity and the elegance of its vertical shape. The narrowed base of the sculpture and the round shape carved in its center convey harmony and sobriety enhanced by the glossy effect of the lighter part.
Tien Wen
Born in Taipei, Tien Wen grew up with a respect for the arts and traditional Chinese culture. She left Taiwan for France in the late 1980s, and has since devoted her artistic work to sculpture and ceramics. Her work revolves around the idea of abstraction, purity and the interplay of shapes and volumes, contrasting curves with lines and roundness with angles. Her minimalist works highlight the fragile balance sought by the artist in the form of her sculptures. Tien Wen uses and blends several techniques, including the Japanese Raku technique. “I had decided at some point to close all my pieces looking like vases because I didn’t want people to see it as something useful anymore. I wanted the piece to exist by shape and line.”
